MATTHEW 5:15 Bible study
Age: adult is easily modified for children
Items needed- bibles, several flash lights, God's Word Sculpture Matthew5:15
Children's Craft- small paper plate, craft paper- colors Bcream and gold.
Pass out flashlights, turn out lights or darken the room, ask the participants not to turn their lights on until asked. Go around the room and invite individuals to turn on their lights. Some will seem dim, others will be very bright. It is good to have atleaset one that is very dim or small, and one or two flashlights that do not work.
Questions:
Ask the participants how they feel about their lights. Many answers will follow, IF someone is concerned that their light does not work ask them why they think it does not. They may reply that it is broken or has no batteries, or that the batteries are dead.
Ask wich light they would prefer if they were lost at sea and had to signal to a ship. Why?
Ask which light they would like if they had to go into a very old house and find their lost cat?
Find two people who hav e dim lights and ask them if they would feel more comfortable combining their light.
Read the verses Matthew 5:14-16. Let indivduals read their different versions or share the one below provided by ______________.
